French Artist to Build Workroom at Thames Town
Richard Texier, a painter and sculptor living in France who has produced a very impressive of works: large scale paintings and monumental sculptures exploring his fascination for nature and cosmos has set up an exclusive workroom at ThamesTown in Shanghai.
The French artist has already stricken then city by his magnificent works. Texier has already established two workrooms in Paris and New York besides the one at his home town.
Texier’s work is featured by large size. The French artist possessed a workroom boasting 1300 square meters in Paris while the three-storey room he enjoys at ThamesTown functions as both a creation base and exhibition center. Texier is now working on another huge sculpture for Shanghai, which might be the new symbol of ThamesTown. The establishment of the workroom will not only bring about a lot of works to Shanghai, but also offer a series of speech given by Richard Texier elaborating on his art concept and sharing the glorious experience of the artist.
Texier is a sculptor as well as a painter, distinguished from others by using unique pigments and techniques during painting. His paintings collect elements from navigation, astronomy and fairy tales, full of mystery and primitivity.

OMP: Why do you choose to stay in Shanghai and build a workroom at ThamesTown.
RT: Shanghai is continuing to absorb essentials from other counties. For example, ThamesTown is of authentic British style. However, the city remains its own characteristics and tradition while drawing exotic elements. And that’s the reason why Shanghai is my favorite city.
OMP: Does your experience in Shanghai make any effect on your creation?
RT: I’ve been to ShanghaiFineArtsMuseum and ShanghaiMuseum, and I like the bronze wares best.
